My Background

I come from a line of entrepreneurs but it took me a long time to realize that was an option for me as well. In school I thrived in history and art but struggled in just about everything else. Academics was a minefield of insecurities that only grew overtime. After moving to a new school my insecurities developed into social anxiety and the harsh self critic in my head negatively skewed how I saw every interaction in my life. I lived in an anxious and terrified state into college, grad school, work and all around life.

Self Development

Luckily for me I had a mid-life awakening. After having my son I began to read parenting books and the whole time I was thinking I don’t want my kid to be like me. I want him to love himself, be confident, and brave. Turns out the parenting books said I had to love myself, I had to be confident, and I had to be brave. I had to be the example that my son could then emulate. From parenting books, I ran down the bibliotherapy rabbit hole of self development books and podcasts. I started journaling on a daily basis. After wanting to get therapy for years, I finally reached out to a friend who recommended her therapist who practiced EMDR therapy. With these actions and other explorations into self healing I came to a place where I could think about what I am interested in, what I wanted in life, what I am capable of, and what I can contribute to the world.

I began thinking about how I wanted to be a virtual assistant with my background as an administrative assistant and information professional and have the flexibility of working from home. So this year I took a six week boot camp course offered by a fellow creative that gave me the framework and supportive community to get my business off the ground.
